This course is for those who want to learn the basic skills needed for a career in social care. You will learn how to work effectively in various care settings with different service users; the values and principles of social care; and how to integrate these values with skills and knowledge. From this course, you can move into more advanced study (a degree in social work) or employment in the social services.
The course includes:
Care in contemporary society; Leadership; Health, wellbeing and safeguarding; Lifespan development
Theoretical approaches; Promoting health, safety and security in the work setting; Developing practice through reflection and learning; Promoting effective communication; Care practice.
2 relevant Highers including English, or relevant Foundation Apprenticeship, or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Entry is by interview.
