This advanced course provides students with a wide range of knowledge and skills required for fabrication, welding and inspection relevant to the mechanical, manufacture, process, oil and gas and alternative energy industries. The objective of the programme is to provide a broad understanding of fabrication, welding and Inspection technologies. In addition, it develops organisational skills, leadership and interpersonal skills.

Contents Include:
Welding Procedures: Specification Qualification and Testing; Fabrication Forming Processes; Welding Principles and Applications 1; Fabrication and Welding Materials; Quality Management: an Introduction; Communication: Practical Skills; Engineering Drawing; Computer Aided Draughting for Engineers; Welding Principles and applications 2; Inspection Systems; Fabrication: Preparation Joining and Assembly; Fabrication Welding and Inspection: Graded Unit 1.

Entry Requirements

Relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6 or Foundation Apprenticeship Engineering.

Progression Routes

On successful completion of this course students may progress onto a career in the fabrication, welding and inspection industry.
