This course provides an excellent foundation in fabrication and welding. Achievement of this award allows students to progress towards completion of the vocational element of a Modern Apprenticeship and subsequent career progression within the engineering industry. It develops further the skills learned from access to engineering courses and/or other qualifications.
Contents Include:
Welding Procedures: Specification Qualification and Testing; Fabrication Forming Processes; Welding Principles and Applications 1; Fabrication and Welding Materials; Quality Management: an Introduction; Communication: Practical Skills; Engineering Drawing; Computer Aided Draughting for Engineers; Welding Principles and applications 2; Inspection Systems; Fabrication: Preparation Joining and Assembly; Fabrication Welding and Inspection: Graded Unit 1.
Relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6 or Foundation Apprenticeship in Engineering. Interview.
On successful completion of this course students may progress onto a career in the fabrication, welding and inspection industry.
