This travel and tourism course gives you the knowledge and skills required to work in a wide range of roles in the tourism industry including retail and business travel, employment with airlines or at the airport, working as tourist guides and travel reps, in hotels and for tour operators both in this country and overseas.

On completing the course you can move directly onto the HND Travel and Tourism or go directly into the second year of university on either the BA (Hons) International Business and Tourism Management at Glasgow Caledonian University or the BA (Hons) in Tourism Management at The University of the West of Scotland.

Tour Guiding and Resort Representation; International Tourist Destinations; Communication: Business Communication; Influences on the Travel and Tourism Industry; Retail Travel Practice; Structure of the Travel and Tourism Industry; Air Travel; Creating a Culture of Customer Care; Using Software Application Packages; Applying Marketing Principles in Travel and Tourism; Preparation for Employment in Travel and Tourism; Airline and Airport Operations; Travel and Tourism: Graded Unit 1

Entry Requirements

1 Higher; or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Interview.

Progression Routes

HND Travel and Tourism; 3rd year entry to various degree courses at University of the West of Scotland or Glasgow Caledonian University.

Employment in airport check-in, cabin crew, retail travel, hotel and tour operations.
