This course will help you to acquire a solid awareness and understanding of accounting principles and practices, giving you the necessary skillset to progress on to degree level study, or into a modern workplace

You will study a wide range of management and financial accountancy concepts, as well as topics from related areas such as economics, maths, IT and law.

Year 1 content includes:
Recording Financial Information; Preparing Financial Statements; Using Financial Accounting Software; Cost Accounting; Management Accounting Using IT; Economics; Information Technology; Business Contractual Relationships; Payroll; Research Skills; Behavioural Skills for Business.

Year 2 content includes:
Financial Reporting and Analysis; Accounting for Specialist Transactions; Management Accounting for Planning and Control/Decision Making; Taxation; Company Law; Mathematics and Statistics; Accounting Graded Units 2 and 3.

Entry Requirements

2 relevant Highers, or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Interview.

Progression Routes

Forth Valley College has formal articulation links in place for entry into year three of relevant degrees at a number of universities.
