This exciting and varied course develops knowledge and creative skills in a variety of areas of the creative arts including textiles, drawing, printmaking, fashion and costume, 3D design, and mixed media. The course combines elements of traditional and contemporary applied design processes. Emphasis is placed on creative experimentation and students use a wide variety of materials, media and skills to develop their ideas.
The course covers concept development, design research, problem solving and presentation of design ideas. In year 1, students are introduced to a wide range of media and techniques including textiles, mixed media, photography, digital media and printmaking. Year 2 then enables students to further develop individual concepts, aesthetics and technical skills mainly through individual projects.
You will study:
Drawing; Creative Process; Contextual Studies; Textiles; Fashion/Performance Costume; Printmaking; Ceramics; Digital Artform; Mixed Media; Portfolio Production; Fashion Illustration; Personal Development Planning; 3D Design; Personal Projects; Community Arts.
2 Highers including Art and Design, English preferred plus National 5 English (if not held at Higher), or Foundation Apprenticeship Creative and Digital Media plus Higher Art and Design, or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Interview and portfolio.
