UHI Shetland aims to provide high quality learning to meet the needs of learners throughout the various islands that make up Shetland. It is an academic partner of the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI).
The main campus, Lerwick, is located in Gremista, the main town in Shetland. There is also the Mareel Campus in Lerwick, where music, audio and film courses take place. They also have the Scalloway Campus in Shetland's second largest town, where marine conservation and research takes place. There are also a number of local learning centres spread throughout the islands, delivering a varied programme of learning opportunities to all parts of Shetland.
Courses and subjects
There are courses at various levels, from NC and SVQ right through to degree and postgraduate.
Subject areas include: Business and Computing; Creative Industries; Education, Child and Youth Studies; Engineering, Construction and Technology; Gaelic Language and Culture; Health and Wellbeing; History, Heritage and Social Studies; Science, Nature and the Environment; and Sports, Adventure and Tourism.
Facilities and services
The main campus has a well equipped library and a canteen.
Learning and teaching facilities include the textile facilitation unit, recording studio, multimedia production and teaching lab, rehearsal spaces, a venue for musical performance, large carpentry and joinery workshop and industry standard training kitchen.
Student support for a wide range of issues and needs is available.
