The University of Strathclyde received its charter in 1964, though it was founded in 1796, as Anderson’s Institute. It is the third largest university in Scotland, with an international reputation and outlook. With more than 200 years of delivering academic excellence, the university prides itself on being The Place of Useful Learning.

You could spend part of your undergraduate course abroad through exchanges with universities in Europe, North America, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand and Australia.
Strathclyde is one of only two universities in the UK to teach Prosthetics and Orthotics - and is the only UK course accredited by the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics.
Strathclyde has over 30,000 students from over 140 countries.
Student accommodation is based at the Campus Village which houses around 1,500 students with a further 400 living in the off-campus residences just 10 minutes' walk away.
Facilities and Services
The library has great facilities spread over five floors with areas suitable for individual and group study. There are numerous computer labs, with most open 24/7, as well as extensive Wi-Fi zones. There are also a number of cafes and bars, plus the Student Union.
Between the Students' and Sports Unions there are over 200 clubs and societies to get involved in, including course related ones, to hobbies and wellbeing.
The university has been transforming its campus with a £1 billion investment. The £31 million sports building provides state of the art training facilities and a range of sport and wellbeing amenities and services to students, staff and the local community. A new £60 million learning and teaching building provides leading-edge facilities and a new home for student support services and the Students’ Union.
