If you enjoy finding out how things work, a career in mechanical maintenance could be for you.

During this course, you’ll learn how to fix equipment when it breaks or maintain them to stop them from breaking in the first place!

You’ll get an introduction to plant maintenance, installation and safety, and develop your skills and knowledge to progress in the world of engineering. If you’re considering a career in engineering, and in particular mechanical engineering, then this course equips you to succeed.

Contents Include:
Communication core skill unit; Mathematics: Craft 1; Engineering: Applying information technology; Electrical plant safety and maintenance; Graphical engineering communication; Maintenance safety; Mechanical engineering principles; Plant installation; Pneumatics and hydraulics; Engineering dimensional control; CAD for engineers; Engineering materials; Graphical engineering communications.

Entry Requirements

3 subjects at National 4 including Maths and a science or technological subject.

Progression Routes

Relevant HNC or HND, or an apprenticeship in the Mechanical, Manufacturing, Maintenance, Aerospace and Ship Building sectors.
