This degree will help you to become a confident user and manager of information technologies; administer and manage network or database systems; and develop software solutions. Computing and IT skills have become fundamental to the way we live, work, socialise and play; they can open up the world of technology and an array of exciting career opportunities. This degree will give you a sound grasp of the principles of hardware-based, software-based, or systems-based technologies, and the ability to apply your knowledge and skills in a broad range of industries and organisations.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements to study this degree. Computer and internet access required.

If you’re new to study or to the OU, it is recommended that you start with a course at Level 1.

Progression Routes

On successful completion of the required number and type of modules you will be awarded a Bachelor of Science (Honours) Computing and IT degree. Depending on which modules you choose the Computing and IT degree may help you to obtain professional recognition from BCS – the Chartered Institute for IT, or from the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). Both are professional bodies established by royal charter.
