This recently developed HNC is an innovative programme designed to equip students with essential skills and knowledge in computing.

Designed in collaboration with industry experts, you will be immersed in the areas of networking, software development, cyber security, artificial intelligence and the internet of things. Working on both individual and team projects you will master the essentials of these technologies and at the same time develop a range of meta-skills and gain experience using Power BI, C Sharp and Python.

Topics covered during the course include:
Computer hardware, networking and software development; Troubleshooting computer problems; Project management and team working; Undertake an ethical hacking project assuming the role of a cyber security specialist as you test software or hardware/networks for vulnerabilities (Aberdeen only)

At Fraserburgh Campus, these topics will be covered:
Introduction to software development with Python and Java programming; Troubleshooting computer problems; Undertake project management and team working activities; Database and SQL; Cisco IT Essentials and CCNA: Introduction to Networks.

Entry Requirements

2 Highers preferably including Computing Science; or Access to Networking (Level 6); or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6.
