Content

Combine the study of business with Chinese to prepare for the social, political, environmental and cultural challenges facing contemporary businesses, governments and not-for-profit organisations.

Year 1:
Your studies will provide an introduction to accounting, business and its global environment. You will have the opportunity to undertake an option course from within the Business School or other schools within the University (subject to availability and timetabling constraints).

If you are a beginner, you will study Chinese 1, an introduction to modern spoken and written Chinese.

If you already have some knowledge of the Chinese language (e.g. from GCSE/National 5 or higher), you may be eligible to enrol in a more advanced course: Chinese 2 (upper beginner) or Chinese 3 (intermediate).

Year 2:
You will broaden your knowledge of essential business subjects and the international environment in which business operates.

Depending on the language level you started at, you will develop your language skills in modern Chinese to intermediate or upper-intermediate level, or beyond. You will cover areas such as grammar, vocabulary and day-to-day knowledge of life in - mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and
Taiwan.

Year 3:
As you progress to honours level, you will spend Year 3 abroad at a partner university or business school.

You will complete and pass a full year of assessed subjects which align with what you would have studied in Edinburgh. You will also take an equivalent compulsory course in strategic management at the partner university.

Year 4:
Your Management Honours Dissertation is central to Year 4. You will choose at least three more specialist honours courses in key areas of international business or one or two honours courses in other subject areas.
