The Access to Nursing Degree (Care) is a full-time, one-year course (21 hours per week) that forms part of the Scottish Wider Access Programme (SWAP). It’s specifically designed for adults with valuable life experience who are ready to return to education and pursue a professional career in nursing.
Course units include:
Values and Principles in Care; Social influences; Stress and stress Management; Human Development and Behaviour; The Human Body; Mental Health and Mental Illness; First aid; HIV Infection;
Core skills such as Communications Higher, ICT and Numeracy.
No formal entry requirements. Away from formal education for 5 years. Interview.
You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.
HNC Health Practice, or Adult or Mental Health Nursing at Glasgow Caledonian University and University of the West of Scotland.
