This exciting course will develop knowledge and skills in sound production with the aim of preparing successful candidates for progression to university and/or a wide range of careers including recording studio engineering, music production, live sound and audio post production.

Using the College's state-of-the-art facilities, students will develop a solid 'hands on' understanding of the latest digital technologies, as well as industry standard analogue classics, giving them the opportunity to become skilled in a wide range of current sound production practices and techniques.

Audio Skills; Digital Audio Workstations; Recording and Mixing; Sound for Live Events; Skills for Business; Audio Post Production: An Introduction; Audio Systems Integration; Digital Distribution; Game Audio; Skills for Mastering and Final Format Production; Digital Audio Workstations; Spatial Recording and Reproduction; Professional Development Project; Independent Studio Project; Location Recording.

Entry Requirements

2 Highers including English and Computing Science, Music or Physics, or Foundation Apprenticeship Creative and Digital Media plus 1 Higher, preferably Maths, Music Technology or Physics, or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Interview.

Progression Routes

Year 3 of a Sound Production or Music Technology related degree, through the college's articulation links.
