The HNC in Sound Production is designed for those interested in pursuing a career in sound production and who wish to develop the knowledge as well as creative and technical skills needed for the sound production industries. Whether you are novice or with some experience, you’ll need to demonstrate a strong interest in sound and audio to develop your skills to the best.

This is a highly practical course, delivered in our fabulously well-designed specialist professional recording studio complex. You will work on a broad range of projects from solo musicians to bands, studio and location recording, live gigs and festivals.

You will study:
Recording and mixing; Sound and music production theory and practice; The creative industries; Acoustics; Digital audio workstations; Location recording; Post production sound; Creative music re-mixing; Pro Tools 101 and related AVID courses.

Entry Requirements

1 Higher, preferably English, Music, Music Technology or a science subject, plus 2 subjects at National 5 including English (if not held at Higher); or Foundation Apprenticeship Creative and Digital Media plus National 5 English, Music or Music Technology; or Advanced Certificate: Sound Production; or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Interview.
