This HNC Fabrication & Welding course offers a curriculum that is closely aligned with the current needs and demands of the fabrication and welding industry. The program covers a comprehensive range of topics, including welding processes, fabrication processes, material science, and NDT and DT inspection methods.

Students gain a deep understanding of the theoretical principles behind fabrication and welding, ensuring they have a solid foundation upon which to build their practical skills.

You will complete a range of units including:

Welding principles and applications 1; Welding principles and applications 2; Fabrication: Preparation, joining and assembly; Quality management: An introduction; Fabrication and welding materials; Inspection systems; Communication practical skills; Welding procedures: Specification, qualification and testing; Containers: Design and manufacture; Engineering drawing; Materials selection; Fabrication, welding and inspection: Graded Unit 1 examination.

Entry Requirements

A relevant NC or SVQ at SCQF Level 6. Your application will be considered if you are an apprentice or if you have relevant experience with no formal qualifications.
