This course introduces a range of skills relating to software, (programming) and web development allowing you to develop skills that are in demand by industry. You will develop problem solving and other employability skills. This will include development of academic skills that will help prepare you for progression to further study.

The course will be delivered using software that is currently used in industry such as C#, Java and Python.

Although the focus is primarily on software development you will also cover a range of generic computing skills.

Content includes:
Applications development; Website creation and authoring; Computer hardware and systems; Networking; Data security; Database; Academic skills; Cyber security.

Entry Requirements

2 subjects at National 5 including English, Maths, Computing Science or a science subject, or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 5. Entry may be subject to an interview.

Progression Routes

Relevant HNC or HND course. You will have the potential to progress onto jobs within the computing and IT sector. (e.g. Modern Apprenticeship in Telecoms).
