Network Infrastructure with Cyber Security

This computing course covers skills within computer networking, servers and cyber.

Modules include:
Networking technology; Firewall Essentials; Server Administration; Data Security;
Ethical Hacking; Computing Forensics; Project Management; Graded Unit Project.

You will complete the HNC Computing in first year and then progress on to more specific skills in year 2.

In addition to this, you will also be offered the opportunity to study towards a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Microsoft MCITP and CompTIA A+ qualifications. These qualifications are highly-desired by employers.

The College organises a series of networking competitions in preparation for World Skills and has specialist networking labs, with the latest Cisco equipment.

Entry Requirements

1 Higher plus 1 subject at National 5 from English, Maths, Computing Science or a science subject, or a relevant NQ or equivalent qualification. You may be required to attend an interview.

Direct entry to year two of the HND may be possible if you already have a relevant HNC.

Progression Routes

Third year entry to various degree courses at University of the West of Scotland, Glasgow Caledonian University or Abertay University.

Second year entry at University of Glasgow, University of Edinburgh or University of Strathclyde is also possible, depending on maths qualifications.

Employment in IT technical support.
