Whether you have completed SVQ Level 2 in Fabrication and Welding or are a working professional wanting to extend their skills, this course gives you a versatile skill set and a strong foundation of knowledge.

It combines welding and fabrication theory with practical classes in industry-specification workshops, using machinery that mirrors the tools and equipment you’ll be using in real-world working environments. So, when you complete the course you’ll have the confidence and hands-on experience to succeed.

Content Includes:
Communication core skill unit; Mathematics: Craft 1; Engineering: Using information technology; Fabrication processes; Welding processes; Health and safety: Engineering; Engineering project; MIG welding skills; Graphical communications; Engineering materials; Fabrication skills; MMA welding skills; TIG welding skills; Thermal cutting skills.

Entry Requirements

National 4 English, Maths and a science or technological subject; or relevant Foundation Apprenticeship. Your application will also be considered if you are a current apprentice or have relevant experience but no formal qualifications.

Progression Routes

HNC Fabrication Welding and Inspection or the potential to move on to jobs in the manufacturing and ship building services.
