Mechanical Engineering mixes traditional core engineering principles with emerging technologies to create truly innovative solutions to design and analyse problems.

Dundee Mechanical Engineering students participate in Formula Student, Europe's biggest student motorsport event, testing their car each year at Silverstone.

Level 1 of the BEng Hons Mechanical Engineering concentrates on essential engineering principles and basic science. More specialised mechanical engineering subjects are taught in Levels 2, 3 and 4 including solid mechanics, dynamics and control, fluid mechanics, mechatronics, and engineering computing applications.

4 Highers at BBBC (BBCC for widening access entry) including Maths and Engineering Science or Physics.

Advanced Highers at AB plus Highers at BB including Maths and Physics or another science or technological subject (with at least one at Advanced Higher)
