This course will give you the skills you need to design, implement and support IT systems in a wide range of industries. It focuses on the key areas of software development, databases, interface design, troubleshooting and e-commerce. You’ll begin by looking at computer system basics - the various hardware and software, how to install an operating system and how to install/configure application and security software.
Content includes:
Explore computer system basics, hardware, and software; Dive into programming, coding, and technical documentation; Master the software development life cycle and build interactive applications; Learn about databases using SQL; Discover user interface design for web, apps, games, and animation; Develop problem-solving skills in computer networking, software development, or technical support; Gain insights into e-commerce and secure commercial transactions over the internet; Enhance your maths skills in a computing context; Collaborate on a team-based ICT project; and, Explore professional issues, legislation, codes of conduct, and ethical considerations.
Higher Maths plus 1 other Higher preferred; or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Entry is subject to interview.
HND Computer Science or employment in an entry level role.
