This course offers a strong foundation in the skills, values and knowledge essential for delivering compassionate and safe care. You’ll explore health, wellbeing, communication, and clinical practice through a blend of classroom learning, group work, and simulation-based activities that reflect real healthcare environments.
Units include:
Professional Standards for Care Practice; Therapeutic Relationships: Understanding behaviour; Safe Working Practice for Care; Clinical Skills for Care Practitioners; Sociology and Health in Scotland; Understanding Personal and Professional Development; The Human Body in Health and Illness; Healthcare Practice: Graded Unit 1; Exploring Mental Health.
1 Higher, preferably in English, History, Modern Studies or Human Biology plus National 5 Maths, or Access to Health, Paramedics and Nursing (SWAP), or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Interview.

Students can progress on to university or into employment within the care field.
