Computing and IT studied with statistics can open career opportunities in a wide range of sectors. You’ll gain a good grounding in statistical methods, complementing the computing and IT skills you’ll develop. So if you enjoy computing and IT, and statistics, these qualifications could suit you well. With an increased emphasis on data and mathematical modelling in recent years, most employment opportunities in the statistics fields make heavy use of computing and IT skills. Consequently, graduates with analytical and computing skills are highly sought-after by employers – they can have an advantage over applicants with just one of these skill sets.

If you’re new to study or to the OU, it is recommended that you start with a course at Level 1.
On successful completion of the required number and type of modules you will be awarded a Bachelor of Science (Honours) Computing and IT degree. Depending on which modules you choose the Computing and IT degree may help you to obtain professional recognition from BCS – the Chartered Institute for IT, or from the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). Both are professional bodies established by royal charter.
