Problem solving and understanding how things work is at the heart of engineering. If that sounds like you, this course is a great introduction to a potential career in engineering. You’ll get the knowledge and skills you need to work in the mechanical and manufacturing engineering industry, from workshop and assembly skills to CAD (Computer-Aided Draughting) and IT for engineers.

This course will allow you to progress into employment as an apprentice or to further study in a range of engineering disciplines on Level 6 courses.

You will undertake a range of units including:
Communication Core Skill Unit; Mathematics: Craft 1; Engineering: Using Information Technology; Health and Safety: Engineering; Engineering Dimensional Control; CAD for Engineers; Engineering Materials; Graphical Engineering Communications; Engineering Project; Engineering Quality: An Introduction; Engineering Workshop Skills; Engineering Assembly Skills; Material Removal Practice: Milling; Material Removal Practice: Turning; CNC Matching; CNC Programming.

Entry Requirements

4 subjects at National 4 including Maths and a science or technological subject.
