This qualification will provide intensive training designed to meet the needs of students whose ambition is to work in the theatre, film and TV industry as costume makers. For students who wish to pursue a career in costume design, this course is a valuable foundation to further study at degree level.

Course includes:
Practical skills in pattern cutting and costume construction; Decorative techniques used to embellish costume; Introduction to the art of corsetry; Millinery/headwear sculptural costume elements; Professional practice design and the history of costume and theatre.

Entry Requirements

2 Highers at A or B, preferably including English or History; or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6.

Interview required where art folders or previous sewing experience can be demonstrated.
