This course builds on the HNC and will give you a wide variety of sought after skills in computing related posts, including software development, security, web servers, databases and mobile technologies.

Subjects include:

object-oriented programming and multiplatform website development; security concepts and the design of secure computer networks; web server roles, installation, configuration, and maintenance; relational Database Management System (RDBMS) design and creation; mobile technologies, app development, and ethical considerations; successful project management principles; setting up and building an e-Business; engage in the STEM Ambassador Programme, visiting schools to share your knowledge; volunteer with CoderDojo, contributing to free programming clubs for children; work on live projects, like designing a website for Ayrshire and Arran Health Board; attend open days and hear from guest speakers in the industry.

Entry Requirements

HNC Computing with a minimum of 15 credits and preferably A or B for the Graded Unit. Entry is subject to interview.

Entry to year 2 of a degree through the college's articulation arrangements.
