This two-year course introduces you to a broad range of skills, covering accounting topics like financial/costing statements, budgeting and payroll, as well as economics, law and IT. The employability skills you’ll need to succeed in an accounting role are also embedded in the course, so you’ll develop lots of other essential personal skills without even realising you were learning them.

Year 1 (HNC)*

Cost accounting; Preparing financial statements; Recording financial information; Management accounting using IT; Using financial accounting software; IT in Business: Spreadsheets; Using software application packages; Business law; Economics; Payroll; Graded unit exam.

Year 2 (HND)*

Management accounting for decision making and for planning and control; Financial reporting and analysis; Accounting for specialised transactions; Information Technology: Advanced spreadsheets; Taxation: Business taxation and income tax; Payroll; Graded Unit project and exam; Company Law; Presentation skills.

Entry Requirements

2 relevant Highers plus National 5 English and a maths based subject, or relevant Foundation Apprenticeship, or NQ Advanced Business or Accounting. All applicants will be invited to attend an interview.
