This course is for those wanting to pursue a career in electrical engineering at technician level. If you already have work experience, this course will widen your understanding about engineering and will allow you to become more employable/allow for career progression in your current employment.

The course includes:

Communication practical skills; Single phase AC circuits; Mathematics for engineering; Electrical networks and resonance; Electrical safety; Fundamentals of control systems and transducers; Electrical machine principles; Three phase systems; Power electronics.

Entry Requirements

Higher Maths or Physics, or NQ Electrical Engineering (Level 6); or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Entry by interview and aptitude test.

Progression Routes

Employment in electrical engineering field or progression to university. Those progressing on to university can work in design, research and development and the management of electrical systems.
