This course will give you the skills, knowledge and understanding to develop your career in the Travel and Tourism Industry. You will gain the skills and knowledge required to provide high quality customer service and enhance your own employability.
After two years of study, you will be achieve both an HND Travel and Tourism as well as a PDA (Professional Development Award) Operations and Management of Visitor Attractions. This course element is unique to our college and will set you apart from the competition for future employment opportunities.
Content may include:
Year 1
Structure of the Travel and Tourism Industry; Preparation for Employment in Travel and Tourism; Creating a Culture of Customer Care; Applying Marketing Principles in Travel and Tourism; Graded Unit; International Tourist Destinations; Retail Travel Practice; Option of Language OR Air Travel AND Airline and Airport Operations.
Year 2
Influences on the Travel and Tourism Industry; Planning and Sustainable Development in Travel and Tourism; Tour Operations; Economics: The World Economy; Business Travel Operations; Graded Unit; Option of Language OR Providing Information on the Scottish Tourism Product AND Working as Senior Cabin Crew.
If the language option is chosen, you may study French, German, Italian or Spanish however, you cannot study the same language for two years.
2 relevant Highers plus 3 subjects at National 5 including English; or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Entry subject to interview.
