This course is ideal for you if you are looking to build your skills across electrical and mechanical engineering as well as fabrication and welding. The skills you will gain are transferable across these disciplines and will give a broad experience for those aiming to work towards becoming technicians in either discipline or for those looking to progress through to a Level 6 engineering course. Delivered by industry experienced engineers your learning will be contextualised and industry relevant.

You will study and learn a broad range of engineering skills across Fabrication, Welding, Manufacturing, Mechanical maintenance and electrical engineering. This includes:

Wiring and maintenance; Mechanical maintenance and design; Engineering communication using industry standard software; Engineering maths; Welding and fabrication typically MIG/MAG; Meta skills; Mechanical and electrical principles.

Entry Requirements

National 4 English, Maths and a science or technological subject, or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 4. Interview and aptitude test.

Progression Routes

Subject to successful completion of the course including all Maths units, then you could progress onto the following courses:
Advanced Certificates: Electrical Engineering; National Certificate: Mechanical Engineering SCQF Level 6; or National Certificate: Manufacturing Engineering SCQF Level 6.
