The NQ5 Engineering practice course contains a mixture of practical activities and classroom-based activities. The primary focus of the course is to provide students with a range of engineering practical skills supported by relevant theory where appropriate. As such this award is suitable for those candidates who wish to become skilled crafts persons/trades persons in a wide range of engineering disciplines. Successful study will give you a solid grounding in the fundamentals of engineering and allows you to progress to a higher level of study, likely at NQ Engineering Systems Level 6.


You will have the chance to study a range of subjects, including:

Communication; Mathematics: Craft 1; Engineering: Using Information Technology; Health and Safety Engineering; Engineering Materials; Computer Aided Draughting (CAD) for Engineers; Metal Inert Gas (MIG) Metal Active Gas (MAG) Welding Skills; Electrical Testing and Measurement; Electrical Principles; Mechanical Engineering Principles; Engineering Workshop Skills; Engineering Project; Fabrication Skills.
