Scottish Borders Campus
The award includes units at National 5 and Higher level covering social care and health care for age range from children to older adults. Units include Care Principles and Practice, Working in a Health and Social Care Setting, Holistic Approaches to Child Health and Biology and core skills.
Delivery of Biology units at SCQF Level 5 will also be included as preparation for the Higher Health Care/Access to Nursing courses. Students take part in workplace experience 1 day per week.
2 subjects at National 5 plus 2 at National 4 including English; or Health and Social Care (National 5).
You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.
Successful students can progress to Higher Social Care, Higher Health Care or NC Early Education and Childcare courses. Career opportunities in the social, health and child care fields such as a Care Assistant or Playgroup Assistant.
