You'll develop practical skills through manufacture and express yourself through design. You’ll be encouraged to study in-depth the construction of furniture, to develop and build designs and to hone your skills in cabinet making, upholstery and wood finishing.

You'll study:
Furniture Construction; Furniture Materials; Machine Woodworking; Workshop Practice; Furniture History; Design Study; Power Tools; Techniques of Timber Fabrication; Methods of Upholstering and Finishing.

Entry Requirements

Higher Design and Manufacture plus National 5 English, or NQ Furniture, or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. A portfolio of your work is required. Interview.

3rd year of BA (Hons) Product Design at Glasgow Caledonian University.
