Learn how to design and produce fashion garments using a range of different materials and techniques, whilst working in a creative environment which closely replicates industry standards. The topics covered will allow you to develop strong original concepts based on your study of design semantics, surface decoration for textiles, professional design practice and observational drawing.
The course also includes a creative project for artists and designers, where you can explore your individuality in textile techniques.
Subjects Include:
Use of industrial sewing equipment; Advanced fashion and textile design projects and concepts; Advanced textile design processes and skills; Research and planning for client commission; A range of drawing skills; Fashion and textile contextual studies; Fashion forecasting; Design and manufacture of clothes for the fashion industry; Digital design processes; Taking part in live projects, fashion shows and events/exhibitions.
2 Highers including Art and Design and preferably English; or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6.
2nd or 3rd year of a university degree programme. This course is part of our Degree Link programme, meaning that on successful completion of the course you could progress to a related degree at Robert Gordon University.
