Content

First Year: Students study modules that are common across the Programme. It is intended to give students an introduction into the civil engineering industry.

Second Year: Expands on the basics of the First Year, with subjects such as Advanced Calculus, Geology and Hydraulics.

Third Year: Is concerned with engineering principles - structural steel and concrete design, environmental topics and structures.

Fourth Year: Students can study abroad at a host institution, or take advanced design practice and the design project.

Fifth Year: Students concentrate on structural research and practical design. Some of these are within an engineering context; others may be undertaken in collaboration with students from Architecture, or Building Engineering and Surveying.

2025 entry requirements

Standard entry: 4 Highers at AABB including Maths plus English at National 5.

Widening access entry: 4 Highers at BBBC including Maths at B plus English at National 5.

For entry to Level 2 you would require 2 Advanced Highers at BB including Maths plus 4 Highers at AABB.
