This course is for those with an interest in designing and making furniture and products, learning more about traditional skills to become a craftsmen blended with innovative techniques and experimentation of scale to create functional pieces of furniture for everyday use.

You will learn a variety of skills that will allow you to understand furniture, research concepts and develop suitable solutions to a design brief. Hand skills will mainly be used in block 1 focussing on drawing and creating using skills to master hand methods. In block 2 this will develop modern techniques such as CAD, machine skills and use innovative and sustainable materials to develop a personal style.

Entry Requirements

4 subjects at National 5 including English and Art and Design or a technological subject; or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 5. Portfolio of work required at interview.
