The course provides an excellent introduction to a career in the trades for energy efficiency in homes, teaching you the practical skills needed to progress to further study in the area.

You will develop practical skills in the construction and plumbing workshop environment, and although most of the time will be spent on practical activities, you will also learn the principles in the classroom.

Units include:
Installing internal wall insulation; Installing external wall insulation; Alternative home heating systems; Energy efficiency measure ; Grey water reuse; Solar thermal energy.

Entry Requirements

National 3 English, Maths and a science subject. Interview and practical skills test.

Progression Routes

Further courses in construction or an Apprenticeship.
