This course will provide you with the confidence and skills required to become a craft apprentice in Carpentry and Joinery or other areas with construction.
The course aims are to improve employability prospects by developing the following.
Carpentry and Joinery practical knowledge and skills; Intro units in Bricklaying, Roofing and Painting; Problem solving skills; Transferable skills that can be related to areas within the construction industry; and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills (CV assistance).
What you will learn:
Carpentry and Joinery units:
Carpentry and Joinery: An Introduction; Develop Bench Joinery Skills; Manufacture Joinery Components; Carpentry and Joinery Repair and Maintenance.
Other trade introduction units in:
Bricklaying; Roofing; Painting; Construction Occupation Practices.
The course has no formal entry requirements, but you should have a genuine interest in carpentry and joinery and other areas within construction and you should be aiming to gain a craft apprenticeship within the construction industry when you complete your course.
This is also a female only course, to promote women into construction.
When you successfully complete this course, you will have gained various hand skills and knowledge about the construction industry. Many of these skills will be transferable throughout the different trades. With the employability skills you will learn on the course, you will be able to apply for a modern apprenticeship within the construction sector.
