This course is designed for students who want to expand their knowledge of construction such as general building, road maintenance, brickwork and railway engineering. You will also gain the NPA 5 Highways Maintenance - Kerbs and Channels award accredited through SQA.

This course offers practical, transferable skills and theory knowledge of the Construction Industry to help you find an apprenticeship or further study.

Content includes:

ICT Skills; Lay Modular Pavement; Reinstate Excavation and Highways Surfaces; Railway routine manual maintenance; Duties within the Rail Industry; Preparing Resources for railways; Operate a Powered Tool and Equipment; Search for Underground Services; Sign, Light and Guard the Work Area; Lay Kerbs and Channels; and, Workplace Health, Safety and Welfare.

Entry Requirements

2 subjects at National 4 including English or Maths and Design and Manufacture, or Intro to Construction, or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 4.
