This introductory program provides an ideal mix of hands-on training and classroom study to give you an insight into what a future in construction retrofit might be. Gaining a strong foundation in basic construction methods and an underpinning knowledge of retrofit and green skills, this course is designed to put you at the forefront of the construction industry.

As part of this course, you will acquire hands-on skills in practical subjects such as:
Basic Carpentry & Joinery Techniques; Basic Roof Tiling; An Introduction to Basic Plumbing Tasks; An Introduction to Domestic Retrofit including air tightness, and basic floor and wall insulation.

You will also work on a project to help you to understand the retrofitting of domestic buildings and develop core digital skills during online learning modules on green skills in construction.

Entry Requirements

National 4 English and Maths or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 4. Interview.

Progression Routes

You have the opportunity to advance to the NPA Level 5 Construction Skills program.
