This Graduate Apprenticeship course will develop your skills and experience in the civil engineering disciplines of structures, construction materials, geotechnics and water resource management and has been developed in partnership with employers to ensure it meets contemporary industry needs. GCU’s highly applied approach to the design and delivery of industry-focused work-based programmes ensures that apprentices and employers benefit from a real-time optimisation of academic learning at work.
Upon graduation, you will be eligible to apply for the qualification of IEng with the qualifying bodies that make up the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM – ICE, IStructE, IHE and IHT).

Structural Mechanics (Statics and Dynamics); Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics; Work Based Learning 1; Construction Materials; Applied Mathematics 1.
Year 2
Geotechnics; Structural Design and Analysis; Work-Based Learning 2; Design of Structures; Construction Processes Management 1; Construction Contracts 2.
Year 3
Composite Materials Performance; Hydraulics, Geotechnical Design; Work Based Learning 3; Structural Engineering; Public Health; Water and Wastewater Treatment.
Year 4
Advanced Structural Engineering; Water Resource Management; Waste Management and Contaminated Land; Dissertation.
2026 entry requirements
4 Highers at BBCC including Maths and a science or technological subject.
