Content

This course covers a range of NPA practical carpentry and joinery units combined with health and safety and related theoretical knowledge and understanding of elements within construction. It provides progression from the Level 4 Construction Skills course and offers progression to further study in construction. Good attendance and achievement on this course will also enhance opportunities for enthusiastic people with an interest to progress to apprenticeships and careers within construction.

Content Includes:
Carpentry and joinery introductory; Bench joinery; Site joinery skills; Joinery repair and maintenance; Health and safety in the construction industry; Construction occupation practices; Employment and behavioural skills; ICT.

Entry Requirements

National 4 in a technological subject, National 4 English and Maths preferred, or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 4.

Progression Routes

Relevant NC or HNC course, or a craft apprenticeship in a construction trade.
