If you want to set yourself up for a career in carpentry and joinery, this course will help you to develop practical skills, combined with a knowledge of health and safety and construction theory. You’ll also work on your personal development skills and employability.

Students who show enthusiasm, good attendance and achievement on this course can go on to further study, an apprenticeship and a potential career in the construction industry.

Content Includes:
Carpentry and joinery introductory; Bench joinery; Site joinery skills; Joinery repair and maintenance; Health and safety in the construction industry; Construction occupation practices; Employment and behavioural skills; ICT.

Entry Requirements

National 4 in a technological subject, National 4 English and Maths preferred, or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 4.

Progression Routes

Relevant NC or HNC course, or a craft apprenticeship in a construction trade.
