This course has been designed to provide an additional access route to degree study in the built environment.

Taught in the same culture and environment as the architectural technology degree, you will become immersed in practical design studio work, with projects allowing you to build a strong portfolio of work to take on to degree level study.

Successful completion of the course will give you direct entry to year two of the degree programme.

Mandatory units:
Architectural design sketching and drawing; Construction technology: substructure; Construction technology: industrial/commercial superstructure; CAD: 2D1; Architectural procedures; Building services in large building; Construction materials and specification; Design of building structures; Statutory control of buildings; Architectural technology: graded unit.

Option units include:
Building services: an introduction; Construction technology: domestics construction.

Entry Requirements

2 Highers at C or above, preferably including English, Maths, Art and Design, Design and Manufacture, Geography, Graphic Communication or Physics; or Foundation Apprenticeship Civil Engineering; or NC Built Environment; or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6.
