This course is for those who want to pursue a career in the construction industry, predominantly within the Carpentry and Joinery discipline.

The course develops your skills and knowledge in the various activities found predominantly in the construction of domestic property as well as providing an understanding of the other disciplines found within the construction industry. You will develop practical skills in both workshop- based bench joinery as well as in a simulated site environment.

The course includes:
Practical subjects such as decorative painting, roofing, wall and floor tiling, carpentry and joinery; Emphasis on project work: design, plan and manufacture; Safety, communication, information technology, problem solving, team-working and numeracy.

Entry Requirements

Introduction to Construction Skills (Lev el 4); or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 4. Interview and practical skills test.

Progression Routes

You could progress into further study, an apprenticeship or employment within the construction industry
