Subjects covered in the BA (Hons) Gaelic and Music programme include a range of practical and theory-based topics essential to a successful career in music. They include one-to-one tuition in the student’s main performance-study, group-work, singing, music theory, composing and arranging, Gaelic music history, recording and producing, music education and business studies.

The course is offered with the following performance-studies although others may be considered on application: accordion (piano or button key), fiddle, flute and whistle (black flute preferred), Gaelic song, guitar, Highland bagpipes, keyboard and Scottish harp (gut and/or wire-strung).

Entry Requirements

3 Highers at BBC, preferably including Gaelic (Learners) or GĂ idhlig at B. You will be required to attend an interview to assess your Gaelic language skills and audition to determine your level of musical ability.
