This course will give you a good grounding in a wide variety of skills and knowledge relating to modern-day business to prepare you for further study or starting your career. Topics you’ll cover include marketing, economics, HR, IT, and accounting.

You’ll begin by looking at large business organisations, including those operating globally. You’ll explore different business sectors, business objectives, and what impacts business success. You’ll look at what’s involved in the successful management of marketing and operations, including market research, the marketing mix, quality control, and production methods. You’ll learn how to manage people and finance effectively and develop your IT skills and knowledge.

On the accounting side, you’ll look at basic bookkeeping and learn to use commercial software for accounting purposes, such as creating records for income and expenses or producing management reports.

Entry Requirements

4 subjects at National 5 preferably including English or Maths; or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 5. Interview.

Progression Routes

Moving onto a Level 7 course such as HNC Accounting or HNC Business
