This exciting and innovative course allows participants to develop skills for the media and make-up industries. Students will attain skills in basic and advanced make-up application techniques in conjunction with applied hairdressing skills and wig dressing methods. Candidate's work will be showcased through the production of portfolios, on-going assessments and work experience.

Content includes:
Essential Make-Up Skills; Hairstyle Maintenance Skills; Ageing Skills; 20th Century Hairstyling and Make-Up; Specialised Make-Up Effects for TV and Film; Sculpting and Flat Mould Production for Prosthetic Make-Up; Production Studies for Theatre; Risk Management, Product Safety and Sustainability; Graded Unit 1; Graded Unit 2; Character Skills; Postiche for TV, Film and Theatre; Period Hairstyling and Make-Up; Life Casting and Mould Making; Work Placement; Contribute to the Organisation of a Promotional Activity; History of Hairstyling; History of Make-Up; Production Studies for TV and Film; Body Painting Skills for Make-up Artists; Hairstyling and Costume for a Total Look.

Entry Requirements

2 Highers including English; or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6.

Students will be required to purchase a kit for each year of the programme as well as uniforms and portfolios. Students must be prepared to work out of College hours for work experience, when required.
