Prosthetists and Orthotists work to rehabilitate those who require external medical devices to enhance movement and function.

Year 1: Prosthetics and Orthotic Design, Human Biological Sciences, Foundations for Inter-Professional
Practice, Lower Limb Prosthetics and Orthotics Practice.

Year 2: professional skills for health care, human anatomy and physiology, lower limb prosthetic and orthotic rehabilitation.

Year 3: topics in upper limb prosthetics and orthotics and spinal orthotics, project and choice of specialist optional classes.

Year 4: two clinical placements each lasting four months in the UK or abroad.

Entry Requirements

2026 entry requirements

Standard entry:
4 or 5 Highers at AAAB or AABBB including Maths or Physics and another science subject; Biology or Human Biology preferred plus English at National 5 (Higher preferred). Advanced Higher Maths, Biology or Physics recommended.

Widening access entry:
4 Highers at BBBB including Maths or Physics and another science subject plus English at National 5 (Higher preferred). Advanced Higher Maths, Biology or Physics recommended.

A Foundation Apprenticeship is accepted in place of a non-essential Higher.
