This course helps students develop the hand skills and knowledge required for progressing to formal craft training in carpentry and joinery and other technical occupations. It combines practical training, job knowledge and associated studies.
This course requires a positive attitude and also develops valuable workplace skills. To achieve this, students will learn about the skills and attitudes that employers are looking for, how to work effectively with others and what to expect - in relation to health and safety - in the construction workplace. There is a strong emphasis on hand skills within the suite of units offered, with an integrated theory aspect embedded into the course.

Carpentry and Joinery (An Introduction); Develop Bench Joinery Skills; Develop Constructional Carpentry Skills; Develop Site Joinery Skills; Manufacture Joinery Components; Carpentry and Joinery Repair and Maintenance; Core Skills; Sustainability with Construction.
National 4 English and Maths. Selection by interview.
Due to excellent industry links, this course has created successful progression paths for many candidates into Modern Apprenticeships.
