Advanced Social Care (Level 6) is aimed at giving you the skills and experience you’ll need for a career in social care as a support worker or project worker, or to progress to further study on Social Care Practice (Level 6) starting in January.
It covers many aspects of the caring role with a range of service users. You’ll be introduced to subjects like counselling and human development, as well as learning about health, safety and child protection. The course will give you a great insight into what goes into a role in social care - helping you on your way to employment or further study.
During the Advanced Social Care (Level 6) course, your caring and professional care skills will be developed by studying subjects such as psychology, mental health, sociology, protection and safeguarding, behaviour and disability.
You'll be supported in your studies by a dedicated guidance tutor.
3 subjects at National 5 including English (History or Modern Studies will be accepted) or Access to Social Care (Level 5).
You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.
