If you’d like to train as a paramedic or health professional, but lack the necessary qualifications, this could be the course for you.

Subjects you will study are:

Human Body; Human Development and Behaviour; Social Influences; Numeracy; Foundations of Care Practice; First Aid; Understanding Mental Health and Mental Illness; Caring for People with Dementia; Substance Use and Misuse; Communication; Health, Safety and Protection Issues ; Physiology and Health ; Human Cells; Neurobiology and Immunology; and Preparation for HE.

Entry Requirements

This course is specifically for people who have been out of full-time education for at least 5 years. It prepares adult returners for entry into Higher Education and can lead to a place at college or university. A place on the course is subject to an interview process and a short written activity.

You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.

Progression Routes

During the programme you will have the opportunity to apply for the Undergraduate Paramedic Science Degree at Glasgow Caledonian University, Stirling University and University of West of Scotland.

You may also progress onto HNC Healthcare Practice, HNC Social Services, HNC Working with Communities or HNC Counselling.
